We held our September collaborative community meeting on Sept. 12th at the Farm Bureau in Mt. Airy. We had good attendance and participants were able to learn about a volunteer income tax preparation program. Wil Golden, Program Manager of UGA Volunteer Income Tax Assistance ( VITA) presented information and gave a call for volunteers to work with the program.
The VITA program also works with local UGA Extension agents to offer free
income tax return preparation. In 2023, Susie Burton Medina, the Habersham Extension Family and Consumer Science agent, helped prepare 59 returns free of charge for local residents. Everyone enjoyed lunch and the opportunity to share about their programs. For more information about VITA, email: vita@uga.edu or call 796-592-8237.
