Webinar: Contemporary Findings and Challenges in Adolescent Neurodevelopment Research
Thursday, August 7, 2025 @ 10:00am - 11:00pm
In this interactive webinar, the presenter will highlight major current research findings and identify open questions in the field of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience, with a focus on adolescent neurocognitive development. Data from large-scale longitudinal studies (e.g., Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study) and lab-based, experimental studies will be discussed and synthesized.
In this session, you will learn about:
- Details of what’s included in the ABCD Study, as well as challenges and opportunities associated with consortium studies vs. lab-based experimental studies
- Current ‘hot topics’ in developmental cognitive neuroscience
- The methods used in developmental cognitive neuroscience research
Presenter:
Charles Geier, PhD, is is a Professor of Human Development and Family Science and Associate Director of the Georgia Center for Developmental Science at the University of Georgia. Dr. Geier’s research program is grounded in developmental cognitive neuroscience and centers on understanding how neural, behavioral, and contextual processes interact to shape adolescent development. His work is characterized by a translational, multilevel approach that integrates multi-modal neuroimaging, psychophysiology, and behavioral data to examine the emergence of risk and resilience in youth, particularly in the domains of substance use, habit formation, reward processing, and mental health.
Audience:
This 60-minute webinar is intended for professionals who work with or care for young children, as well as professionals who support families with young children. It may also be useful to parents and other family members of young children.
