There were 12 teen moms and several parents who attended the Teen Parent Night held at Mtn. Education Charter High School in Demorest on Nov. 30. It was a night filled with information and free resources!

Melanie Allen of the Family Resource Center presented a program on Purple Crying (http://purplecrying.info/). Students visited tables set up by Family Resource Center, Family Connection, MedLink, and Amerigroup and received useful baby items and information. An anonymous person donated several puffer jackets to the Family Resource Center to be given away. Mountain Ed. provided the pizza and Family Connection provided the desserts/snacks.

The Family Resource Center also provided free infant car seats to each teen parent. Danny Clouatre, Assistant Chief of the Clarkesville Police Dept., demonstrated how to properly install and use the car seats and then installed one in each participant’s car.

The response was great and the teen parents and their parents really appreciated this support!

Family Connection Director Donna Barrett, along with community partners, is planning other outreach programs for teen parents in Habersham.
